If you love nothing better than drinking and flashing your enormous IQ at everyone, cancel your plans for Thursday; your ideal night out is about to happen on Shandon Street.

The Drunk Spelling Bee returns to The Friary on Thursday, January 9th, 2020, inviting supreme spellers from all over Cork to battle it out over some of the English language’s most obscure and bothersome words for a bar tab prize.

“This is your opportunity to show the world how brilliant at spelling and generally brainy you are!” say the organisers.
“There’s only one problem… you will be drinking. A lot.”

Sounds ideal to us. Plus the winner will nab a €30 bar tab and the speller in second place will get a €20 bar tab.

There’ll be special wine and beer offers running on the night to remedy any performance anxiety and everybody who takes part goes home with the makings of a very bad hangover.
