Now you can plan a romantic night in a TREEHOUSE overlooking Cork City

By Katie Mythen-Lynch February 14, 2019January 14, 2020

Tree houses are beyond trendy abroad at the moment, but one Cork couple have created a treetop hideaway in the centre of the city.

Richard and Catherine’s incredible Urban Tranquilatree is attracting guests from all over the world.

St Patrick’s Hill is probably the last place you’d expect to see a cosy cabin suspended in the branches, but venture up the rope bridge and climb the wooden steps and you’ll quickly see why the location of this treehouse cabin is a stroke of genius.

Stretching out in every direction from the foot of the bed are panoramic views so jaw-dropping it takes a second to properly absorb them.

Just feast your eyes on this…

The Tranquilatree is situated in the couple’s Victorian garden but surrounded by trees for privacy (this thing is built for romantic moments so fear not, nobody’s going to overhear your proposal).

The structure consists of a bedroom with double doors opening on to a glass-walled deck at the top level, meaning the views are just as spectacular from the comfort of the bed.

Lads, the romance!

Designed to move slightly in strong winds, the treehouse is fully insulated and heated so guests can stay all year ’round. There’s even a bathroom complete with shower built into the level below, with bathrobes and slippers provided. The design is deliciously folksy, with cute deck furniture you can arrange for star gazing on a clear night.

Not only do you drop off under the starlight, you’ll wake up to the magical sound of birdsong from the surrounding branches each morning.

Guests of the Tranquilatree are provided with everything they need to make tea and coffee in their unusual digs, and fresh croissants are delivered each morning using the pulley system.

Cork city centre is just a five minute stroll from the property via the (very steep) hill.

Sleep over in the Tranquilatree from around €130 per night.
