Cork Film Festival is screening movies for kids in Crawford Art Gallery

This will be a lovely way to spend a Sunday in the city.
Three kid-friendly film screenings will take place in the Crawford Art Gallery this September as part of the Cork Film Festival Children’s Film Season.
While the main movie action doesn’t kick off until November (7th-17th, 2019), the Festival will be treating little film fans to a series of Sunday shows as part of the Crawford Art Gallery’s celebration of childhood, SEEN, NOT HEARD.
Budding film fans can check out a fun-packed programme of Irish and international animations and short films, all specially selected for families to experience and enjoy.
Here’s the programme:
- Sunday, September 22nd, 2pm – 3.10pm: Family-Friendly Shorts
From musical tales to exciting adventures, this programme presents a variety of colourful short films for children (aged 6+) to enjoy the best of storytelling on film.
- Sunday, September 29th, 2pm – 3.20pm: The Secret of Kells 10th anniversary Screening (PG)
To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Cork Film Festival is delighted to present Academy Award nominated animated film ‘The Secret of Kells’, an enchanting tale inspired by Irish mythology.

- Sunday, October 6th, 2pm – 3.10pm: The Overcoat and Mirette
A delightful double bill of two enchanting films which bring classic books to life for children aged 6+. The Overcoat is an animated adaptation of Nikolai Gogol’s classic short story about an office worker (Cillian Murphy) who saves all his money to buy a new coat, only to have fate take a ghostly hand. Mirette brings the award-winning children’s book Mirette on the High Wire to life.
Tickets are €25 for a Family Pass (two adults and two children) or €7.50 per screening. Additional adult tickets are €6 and you can book online here.
Book online: corkfilmfest.org. Limited tickets available on the door. Booking in advance online is advised. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
