Now you can try windsurfing, kayaking and paddle boarding after work

By Yay Cork May 9, 2019May 9, 2019

Brought to you by Oysterhaven Activity Centre.

It’s a workout and a stress-busting bit of fun all rolled into one.

Oysterhaven Activity Centre has extended its opening hours for the summer, meaning you can now book lessons and hire kayaks, paddle boards and windsurfers in the evenings after work, as well as on Saturdays.

A longtime favourite for company sports and social clubs, hens, stags and family groups, Oysterhaven is also a brilliant spot for solo visitors and couples to get out on the water.

Located just six miles from Kinsale, the family-run centre looks onto the pristine waters of the beautiful, sheltered Oysterhaven Bay.

The best bit is that everything is affordable – you can hire a kayak or a stand-up paddle board for just €12 and head out on the water for an hour.

Dinghies are available from €30 and windsurfers from €20 – it’s the ideal way to try out a fun new sport without going to the expense of buying all the equipment yourself.

If you’d like to learn how to sail, windsurf, kayak or paddle board, book the Oysterhaven Activity Centre Taster Session – €50 gets you 2.5 hours of tuition with an experienced and professional instructor, plus all the necessary equipment.

If you have the basics already but you’d like to improve your skills, private one-to-one tuition with a trained instructor is available at €80 for 2.5 hours, inclusive of kit, wetsuits and buoyancy aids.

You can fit in a lesson around your schedule too – Oysterhaven is open for Kit Hire and Taster Sessions on Saturdays throughout May.

Come June, these services are also available every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening between 4.30pm and 8.30pm for the summer so you can skip the gym and get your exercise on the water after work.

Don’t worry about booking in for a solo session either; Oysterhaven cater for individuals as well as groups of all sizes.

Ready to hit the water? Call 021 477 07 38 to pre-book your session or email info@oysterhaven.com for more details. For the full list of activities at Oysterhaven Activity Centre, visit the website. Keep an eye on the Instagram feed for special offers too.
