5 spots to get a hot chocolate fix while you do your Christmas bits in town

These are the real deal.
Ever had a craving for a real hot chocolate? The gooey, melty kind that guarantees you an “oooh” and a satisfied “aaaahh” at the first sip?
Now that the weather is finally cooling down a bit and hot drinks season is getting into full swing, we’ve put together a list of some of our favourite spots to grab a cocoa-flavoured pick-me-up while you shop your way around town.
Whether you like yours made with milk chocolate, dark chocolate, exotic flavours, vegan milks or a hefty shot of booze, we got you covered:
Try these first:
1. Lab 82
Where: 82 Lower Glanmire Road, Cork City
First up is Lab 82, especially handy if you’re planning a train journey in the near future. Their hot chocolate is to die for, each one made with melted chocolate drops, topped with a blow-torched marshmallow and caramel and chocolate sauce.

Where: Tuckey Street, Cork City
Just up the road from Three Fools Coffee is the coffee powerhouse, Soma. Soma uses Belgian chocolate called callebaut, a light cocoa delight with hints of caramel. Soma has also started stocking their own Hot Chocolate blend which you can buy off their website, also available in-store very soon.

5. O’Sho
Where: Barrack Street, Cork City
Over on Barrack Street, O’Sho is serving what they call a ‘Hug in a Mug’ which promises to make you all warm and fuzzy (and very merry). The ‘Hug in a Mug’ is made up of coffee tequila, O’Conaill’s dark chocolate, whipped cream, topped with marshmallows and grated chilli chocolate flakes.
Probably best to get your shopping out of the way before indulging in this one.
