5 local ways to spoil your lovely Mum on Mother’s Day

It’s this Sunday, people.
March 11th is Mother’s Day, so whether you’ll be celebrating with your own mama or marking the occasion with your kids, now is the time to make a booking and plan something special.
Here are five fun events happening this weekend in Cork…
1. Shop The Three Magpies Pop-Up on the Marina
The Three Magpies, a collaboration between three Irish friends who produce ethical, beautiful gifts and a gorgeous subscription box will be holding a Spring Pop-Up and Workshop on March 9th (4pm to 8pm) and 10th (10am to 5pm).
The trio, Tracey, the herbal scientist behind Bia Beauty, wildlife artist Molly from Ewe Sir and botanical jeweller Ruby Robin Boutique will be offering discounts and special offers all weekend at Bia Beauty, Unit 3, The Marina.
You can also learn how to create your own beauty goodies with a Bia Beauty workshop (these can be booked on 086 777 7108) – the ideal crafty afternoon to enjoy with your mum.
2. Catch a movie at The Triskel
It’s just swept the boards at the Oscars, taking Best Picture and Best Director for Guillermo del Toro, Best Original Score and Production Design, and now you can catch The Shape of Water in the atmospheric setting of The Triskel.
The movie is a heartwarming tale about a woman who falls in love with a sea monster. The show starts at 2pm on Sunday, March 11th and tickets are €9 here.
3. Pilates and Prosecco
Want to catch up with your mum while toning and firming your bod? Pilates & Prosecco is an after work party that involves a 90-minute Pilates class followed by some well-deserved bubbles – and pizza.
The event had to be postponed during Storm Emma, but it’s going ahead on March 9th at Republic of Work on the South Mall. Tickets are €45 for two with bigger discounts available the more people you bring along.
4. Book Mother’s Day lunch at The Imperial
If your mum is the chef in your family, Mother’s Day is the perfect opportunity to let someone else take care of the menu. We recommend Mother’s Day lunch at The Imperial Hotel on Sunday, March 11th.
There’ll be live music from Velvet and a four-course meal will only set you back €32pp between 12:30pm and 4pm. Book your table on 021 427 4040.
5. Sip wine at Hayfield Manor
Wine connoisseurs will be spoilt rotten at Cork’s swankiest five-star hotel on March 15th. Hayfield Manor’s Wine Society evening showcases some of the best vintages in the world.
The fun begins at 7pm with canapes and an introduction from a representative of Casa Ferreirinha winery in Douro, Portugal. A delicious five-course meal, prepared by Head Chef Mark Staples and his talented team, will compliment a choice of carefully selected wines at 7.30pm. Tickets are €129pp here.
