5 gorgeously gooey OTT pancakes to order in Cork this weekend

By Christina Collins January 14, 2022April 5, 2022

It’s a bold choice for breakfast.

But let’s face it; that’s what makes ordering pancakes all the more fun.

From fluffy buttermilk creations stacked as high as your chin to pancakes covered in smooth, melted chocolate and sprinkled in Nutella brownies, brunch menus across the city are bursting with decadent options to brighten up your morning (or afternoon) like nobody’s business.

So in the spirit of indulgence, we’ve put together a list of some of the best pancake towers to tempt you out of bed this weekend:

1. Kinder Bueno

It should be illegal to make pancakes this good.

These Kinder Bueno stacks at Lab 82 are slathered in the chocolatey goodness, dripping in hazelnut cream and topped with pieces of the famous bar, guaranteeing that signature Ferrero crunch we love so much.

2. Vanilla Buttermilk Stack

Take a trip to Sophie’s Rooftop Restaurant at The Dean to enjoy your brunch with a panoramic view.
These buttermilk babies are topped with a rich chocolate sauce, vanilla ice cream and dusted with icing sugar… a treat to take your tastebuds to new heights.

3. American Style

You can order your pancakes whatever which way you like at The Anglers. Decorate ’em with fresh banana, caramel and pecan, bacon, and maple syrup or fresh fruits.

The last one’s practically a healthy choice, like.

4. Nutella & Oreo

Joes & Bros have a constant rotation of otherworldly toppings.

Nutella and Oreo pancakes make a regular appearance at this Cork City café, and are often topped with Kinder Bueno and strawberries to really satisfy your sweet tooth.

Other creations by the adventurous crew include Crunchie, chocolate sauce and Smarties, white chocolate, raspberries, ice cream, crumble and fruit coulis as well as a Shrove Tuesday special with Pistachio Sauce and white chocolate cream.

Holy moly.

5. Chocolate & Nutella Brownie

You don’t have to choose between milk or white chocolate at The Spitjack.

These homemade buttermilk pancakes are sprinkled with two kinds of chocolate chips, Nutella brownie, chantilly cream and chocolate sauce. You can also try their Banoffee, a banana and caramel sensation, Very Berry, and Chocolate & Maple Syrup.

See you on Washington Street.
