Does your family get on like a house on fire?

If you’re part of a clan that likes to go everywhere together, it can be tricky to find accommodation with space for everyone.

The answer? Some clever use of Airbnb. Renting a home together can seriously cut your costs too; with plush perks such as jacuzzis, yoga studios and island views on offer, it really is a case of the more the merrier when it comes to the invite list.

We’ve scouted the vast and palatial rental homes of Ireland to find six options that are ideal for family members of all ages, from your great Gran to your newborn nephew.

Happy holidays!

1. THE RENOVATED BARN IN THE WILDS OF WICKLOW

Booking: €450 per night, sleeps 17 guests

Ideal for a low-key family get-together, this gorgeous property boasts seven bedrooms and 17 beds, spread out over the 18th Century stone barn, a modern extension and a farmhouse. Macreddin village with its weekend organic market and restaurant is 15 minutes drive away.

2. THE KILKENNY COACHOUSE

Booking: €750 per night, sleeps 16 guests

This converted carriage house is part of the adjacent 16th Century castle, which makes for a magical stay just outside the Marble City. A ten-minute walk to the local pub, the house is spacious and comfortable with large windows and a roomy kitchen for big family meals and chats over breakfast.

3. THE GOTHIC REVIVAL IN COUNTY CARLOW

Booking: €1,200 per night, sleeps 14 guests

Lisnavagh House has been in the same family, the McClintock Bunburys, for over eleven generations. It can sleep up to 14 guests in luxury style bedrooms and guests are welcome to enjoy the library, dining room and schoolroom with big open log fires. There is a house kitchen with a double Aga for guests to use if they wish to cater for themselves and the dining room table can seat up to 20 guests.

 4. THE LOG CABIN IN WESTPORT

Booking: €900 per night, sleeps 16 guests

Just a short 12 minute drive from Westport, Eaglewood Lodge is a cosy cabin with handcrafted log rooms and mountain views. The vast river rock fireplace is perfect for a roaring fire, with a jukebox to keep everyone entertained on the cosy sofas.

The lodge is ideal for large groups, hen parties and family get-togethers. Taxis are plentiful to take you into Westport town and a further 25 people can be accommodated in glamping pods on request.

5. THE SEASIDE ESCAPE IN DINGLE

Booking: €234 per night, sleeps ten guests

If you’re looking for somewhere to make some magical memories, Number One Dinge has it all; luxe bedrooms, chic living areas and a modern kitchen for cooking big family dinners together. Less than five minutes walk to all that Dingle has to offer, the property boasts Dingle Town and Dingle Harbour views and it’s an ideal base for exploring the Dingle Peninsula.
