5 delectable new chilled drinks to sip around town in Cork this summer

Temperatures are looking up for next week.
And as the mercury rises, an important summer rule comes into play: the warmer it gets outside, the cooler your cup contents must become.
Happily, Cork is positively gushing with refreshing beverages to quench your thirst and lift your spirits. From tangy caffeinated concoctions to creamy gelato-topped espresso and zingy cocktails, there’s an invigorating drink to help you remain chill at all times of the day.
Here are five lovely new libations to sip in town this summer:
1. When life gives you lemons…
Nab a little seat in the sunny garden at the Green Room in Cork’s Crawford Art Gallery and order a Limoncello Lemon Spritz, then close your eyes and imagine you’re on the Amalfi Coast.
Perfetto.

2. An adults-only treat at Sketch
If you’re fond of an ‘ole PSM on occasion, the Sketch Pornstar Martini will blow your mind altogether. Made with Irish Istil 38 Vodka, Passoa, pineapple juice, and passion fruit, and served with a double shot of Prosecco, it’s a heck of a way to start the weekend.

3. A lemony lavender treat in a hidden cocktail bar
It’s one of our favourite spots for a sneaky tipple. Head for Upstairs on Pembroke Street this week and try the Lavender Haze, a fruity, floral delight made with Cork’s own Maharani Gin, homemade limoncello, and a sprinkle of lavender.

4. Something fruity from SOMA
If you fancy a break from your usual flat white, you can now pick up a Red Berry Tonic in all SOMA locations across the city. A fizzy and refreshing caffeine fix, cascara tonic is made by brewing coffee husks and mixing the reduction with tonic water and other fruit flavours.

5. Drown your sorrows… in coffee and ice cream
Is there a better treat on a warm day than an affogato? An Italian dessert that combines a scoop of creamy gelato or ice cream “drowned” or “drenched” in a shot of hot espresso, you can find one at Coffee Scape over on Pope’s Quay.
