5 charming Cork tea houses where the kettle is always on

We love our big mugs of tea.
But there is nothing like a teeny tiny little saucer with a matching cup to make us feel super fancy, whether we’re out for brunch, Friday cocktails, or a hen party.
That’s why we’re super excited to see more and more tea houses pop up around the city and county, each one with a menu more scrumptious than the last.
When we want to add that little extra something (on a tiny saucer) to our everyday lives, this is where we’re heading.
Pinkies up…
The Workshop
Out beyond the Kinsale Road Roundabout, past Cork International Airport is The Workshop Cork, where you can enjoy “tea at the end of a runway” as well as fresh, homemade scones, brunch, desserts, and a range of sandwiches every day of the week.
Their wide selection of teas are served in antique and vintage fine bone china, all to be enjoyed in the cosy, fireside Tea Room, an old carpentry shed strewn with antiques. Check out their website to find out how to get there.

2. Cafe On the Lane
Clonakilty has its fair share of amazing restaurants and bars. One of our favourite places to grab a bite when down Wesht is Cafe On the Lane.
This Tea House and coffee shop is meticulously decorated with some of the most amazing vintage designs, furniture, and tea sets – you’ll feel like you’ve been transported back in time. This little hideaway is nestled inside the magical Spillers Lane and open seven days a week 9pm-6 pm and 11am-6 pm on Sundays.

3. O’Sho
Back in Cork City, we know the crew in O’Sho are absolutely obsessed with their teas. So much so they have invested in some serious glassware that promises to give you the perfect cuppa by making you wait. Yes, that’s right; order a tea in O’Sho and you are handed a colourful sand timer that counts you down to the perfect blend.
This quirky bar stocks a selection of Organic Therapeutic teas from the Hayley Power Wellness range and they even have their own O’Sho blend that you can buy in-store. Lovely.

4. Tara’s Tea Room
Anyone who’s walked down McCurtain street will have come across the highly photogenic Tara’s Tea Room, which lights up the street with its pastels, frills and fine bone china.
Tara’s does some of the best desserts in Cork at a very reasonable price and you’re guaranteed a beautifully patterned teacup and pot with your order. With a huge selection of teas, lunch options and treats, this is a great spot to impress any visitors.

5. The Tea Room
Soft summer sunsets and day trips down West call for a stop-off at The Tea Room, Castletownbere. This traditional tea house is only a stone’s throw away from the pier and you can enjoy a hot cuppa on their outdoor seating if the day is fine.
Pinkys at the ready, we’re off the Beara Penninsula.
