16 tonnes of sand has been delivered to keep the beach volleyball going at the Marina

It’s been a surprise hit.
Cork City Council has delivered a further sixteen tonnes of sand to the beach volleyball court at the Marina so players can continue to enjoy it throughout August.
Located next to Central Hall in the Marina Park on Monaghan Road, the sand-based volleyball court was initially scheduled to remain in place for July.
“The pop-up court has been overwhelmingly popular with clubs, social groups, families, and friends!” said a City Council spokesperson on Twitter.
The court will continue to be used by groups such as the Volleywood Stars Social Group for an hour in the evenings. At all other times, it will be open for use by anyone who turns up so it’s a great excuse to grab a ball and head over.
All the times for the Beach Volleyball sessions are listed here. Afterwards, you can refuel and grab lunch or a snack at the 5 Points Kiosk.
