12,000 coloured balls will be released on St Patrick’s Hill as part of a super fun fundraiser

It’s quite the spectacle.
A bouncing cascade of 12,000 coloured balls will swoosh down Patrick’s Hill in Cork City in March as part of a charity fundraiser.
The annual event on Sunday, March 16th is in aid of Cork Life Centre and Cork City Missing Persons Search & Recovery.
Here’s how it works: Each ball is individually numbered and released from a cage at the top of Patrick’s Hill and gathered in a trap at the bottom of the hill. As the balls are released, gravity takes over, propelling them down the iconic hill in a frenetic, unpredictable race.

Six lucky balls, the first to navigate the challenging descent, will secure their owners a coveted prize. It’s a game of chance, some good old-fashioned fun. And, more importantly, it’s a powerful demonstration of how a simple idea can generate significant support for vital community services.
The Patrick’s Hill Ball Run will begin at 2pm on the day and continue until 4pm. You can purchase balls for the race here at €2 per ball or three for €5.
