You can now get a sauna and swim, a pizza and a pint in Red Strand on Thursdays
It’s just a stone’s throw from Clonakilty.
Red Strand beach is already known for being a good spot for a swim and stroll as well as hosting coffee docks such as Red Strand Coffee and the beloved West Cork Sauna all year ’round.
In the run-up to the summer, however, there’s even more of a reason to visit the coastal beauty spot. Parked up the road, Wandering Wagon Pizza will be serving scrumptious pizza hot from the oven outside O’Donovans bar at Fisher’s Cross.
Starting its second year outside the legendary venue, the food truck will be firing out the goods in the evenings, meaning after a sweat in the sauna and a swim at the beach you can take in the long stretch over their delicious wood-fired pizzas.
If your timing is right, you can head down on a Thursday evening where O’Donovan’s pub hosts an open music session, so you can enjoy some top-notch live music while your pints settle.
“Back on Red Strand every Thursday evening now with the longer days, they’ll be pizza from Wandering Wagon Pizza and craic agus ceol in the legendary Thursday night music session up the road in O’Donovans of Fishers Cross,” said the West Cork Sauna crew on Instagram.
“Come for a swim/sauna and then head two minutes up the road for a pizza and a pint and a world-class session, sure where would ya get it!”
