You can check out six pieces of theatre for free at the Everyman this weekend

You can’t have an act without an actor…
Or a play without a playwright. Behind the scenes, a lot of work has been put into nurturing homegrown talent here in Cork.
The Everyman, alongside Graffiti Theatre Company and Fighting Words, has launched several programmes over the years to encourage more people to take part in every facet of theatre, including writing.
Initiatives also include workshops, weekly youth workshops as well as artist meet-ups to build communities and artistic opportunities.
In November 2021, the Young Playwrights’ Programme brought together aspiring young writers to develop their scriptwriting skills. Up and coming playwrights were encouraged and supported by professional mentors such as John McCarthy, Katie Holly and the legendary Enda Walsh of Disco Pigs fame.
Now, Corkonians will get to enjoy the fruits of their labour in six brand new and compelling pieces, directed by Sophie Motley (Artistic Director, The Everyman) and Julie O’Leary (Creative Learning Director & Activate Director, Graffiti) and presented by an ensemble cast who will perform rehearsed readings of each piece.
