With two weeks until it reopens, here’s how things are coming along at Cork Airport

It’s scheduled to reopen on Monday, November 22nd.
And if new images are anything to go by, it looks like Cork Airport will easily meet the deadline for the completion of its €40m jet-capable runway reconstruction.
“In less than two weeks’ time we will reopen our brand new runway @CorkAirport after an intensive 10-week reconstruction project – the fastest capital project in the State in recent years.” the Airport management announced on Instagram.

“DAA is investing €40 million in Cork’s future connectivity with the world. See you all soon.”
Led by Maynooth-based contractors Colas, the project will see the main runway reconstructed, along with the upgrading of the airport’s approach, airfield and ground lighting, runway edge and centreline lighting together with all of its drainage and ducting systems.
As works continue, Cork Aiport has been busy announcing a host of new routes for the remainder of 2021 and into 2022, including a new SWISS Airlines route from Cork to Geneva to begin on December 19th and a new route from Cork to Manchester, operating twice daily from December 15th.
Seven new Aer Lingus routes, including Amsterdam, Dubrovnik (Croatia), Faro (Portugal), Lanzarote, London Heathrow, Malaga and Palma (Spain) have also been added.
