Winter Warmers: This is the Cork pub to hit for toasty tipples and hot buttered rum

By Yay Cork November 11, 2024November 15, 2024

The chill of winter is settling over Cork.

And there’s no better place to find a cosy corner for a warm drink than at Arthur Mayne’s, the iconic watering hole nestled right in the heart of the city on Pembroke Street.

Stepping through the door feels like entering a snug time capsule; all dark wood, vintage glass bottles, and the low, golden glow of lamp light.

This winter, Arthur Mayne’s has pulled out all the stops with a festive drinks menu that’ll have you feeling merry and bright before you even hit the holiday season proper.

Whether you’re coming in from a misty morning or a biting night, these spirited hot drinks are designed to warm you through and through. Here’s a rundown of the stellar lineup of boozy Irish coffees and spiked hot chocolates try now:

Bumbu Hot Buttered Rum
Perhaps the crown jewel of the winter drinks menu, the Bumbu Hot Buttered Rum is the quintessential winter warmer. It’s made with Bumbu Rum, distilled and blended in Barbados, the birthplace of rum, expertly spiced and sweetened, then topped with a float of fresh cream.

Mozart Chocolate – White or Dark
Named after the famed Austrian composer, this chocolatey creation is a masterpiece in a glass. Choose between white or dark Mozart chocolate liqueur, both blended with steamed Irish milk until silky smooth.

Hot Toddy
The classic that needs no introduction. Arthur Mayne’s has perfected the Hot Toddy—a steaming mix of whiskey, honey, lemon, and cloves, with just the right hint of spices to soothe both throat and soul.

Hot Port
Simple, yet so satisfying, the Hot Port is a drink that’ll instantly transport you to a cosy fireside scene. Served in a glass mug, the port is warmed gently to release its rich, fruity aroma, then garnished with a twist of citrus and a handful of warming spices.

Boozy coffees and hot chocolates
If your idea of heaven is a hot drink with a decadent twist, Arthur Mayne’s has just the ticket. Each of their liqueur coffees and hot chocolates is finished with a generous dollop of fresh cream, turning every sip into a rich, velvety experience.

Grab your coat, head on down, and take a seat by the bar. There’s a Hot Toddy with your name on it, and winter has never tasted so good.
