Watch where you park: Spring tides are likely to flood Cork’s quays this week

Avoid low-lying quays.
That’s the advice from Cork City Council this week as motorists are warned that a high astronomical spring tide will occur on a number of evenings this week, causing minor localised flooding.
“Cork City Council wish to advise that there will be a period of high astronomical spring tides in the coming days.” a spokesperson said.
“It is likely that some roads and parking areas along low-lying quays in the city centre may suffer localised flooding during high tides; i.e. Morrison’s Quay, Fr. Matthew Quay, Trinity Bridge, Union Quay, Sharman Crawford Street, Wandesford Quay, Frenche’s Quay, Proby’s Quay, Crosses Green, Lavitt’s Quay, Kyrl’s Quay, South Terrace, Rutland Street, Sawmill Street and potentially reaching South Mall.
“Motorists in these areas are advised to proceed with caution. ”
High tide times of note are as follows:

- Wednesday 22/03/2022 05:53 18:13
