Vote for Cork’s prettiest pubs, shops and cafés in the Better Building Awards

Nominations are now open.
A well-kept building can transform a street. Now local business owners who spend time and money maintaining and improving their facades are to be celebrated by the city.
Cork Business Association (CBA), in partnership with Cork City Council, is once again inviting submissions for the Cork Better Building Awards. The awards recognise the efforts of developers, landlords and tenants to present properties throughout the city to their absolute best.
Last year’s winners came from a variety of sectors and each entry was judged by a panel of experts in heritage, planning and placemaking. As well as large-scale projects, the judging panel will also focus on maintenance and good housekeeping, such as cleaning, painting and planting.
The Awards are open to all city businesses from Ballincollig to Blarney, Glanmire to Douglas as well as the city centre.

“These awards are a vital celebration of the passion, vision, and investment that goes into enhancing our beautiful city.” said Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr. Fergal Dennehy.
“They are a powerful testament to our civic pride, showcasing how thoughtful development and restoration can honour our rich built heritage while building a dynamic and sustainable city for future generations.”
This year, the panel welcomes two new judges: Mary McCarthy, Director of Crawford Art Gallery and Dr. Seán O’Leary, O’Leary, Senior Planner with the Irish Planning Institute. They will sit alongside Lawrence Owens (past President CBA) and Gwen Jordan (Senior Executive Planner, Cork City Council).
The Better Building Awards Ceremony will take place at The Metropole Hotel on Thursday, November 7th, 2025. Entry is free, and online nominations are welcomed from companies, organisations, and individuals across the city.
