Up in St Luke’s, a dreamy sustainable B&B serves breakfast to non-guests too

Breakfast is the new brunch.
In fact, even if you’re not a morning person, there’s a brekkie spot in St Luke’s that’s worth clambering out of the cot bright ‘n’ early for.
Gabriel House, a comfy little bed and breakfast nestled in the leafy surrounds of Summerhill in St Luke’s, has opened up its delightful sustainable breakfast menu to non-guests.
That means as long as you book ahead, you don’t need to be staying over to enjoy the first meal of the day in their bright dining room or sip your coffee at a quiet table in their lush leafy garden.
Head chef Martin has put together a delicious menu based on the best of local produce. Even the eggs in your scrambled will have been collected that very morning from the Gabriel House hens, happily clucking away in the garden.
The Little Leesider is the one to choose if you’re a little peckish; a mini breakfast with bacon, sausage, and egg, it’s served with toasted sourdough bread.
If you’re hungry, plump for The Corkonian, which involves the works; fried egg, crispy bacon, sausage, mushrooms, tomato, and black and white pudding.
All the breads, biscuits and scones are baked in-house every day too and you can order your porridge with a dash of Bailey’s – the ultimate in weekend decadence if you ask us.
They also do a variety of poachies and scrambles, omelets, and big, fat stacks of American-style pancakes with crispy bacon, Nutella, maple syrup, or berry compôte.

If you are making a night of it, the guesthouse boasts lovely rooms with incredible views of the city below. You can explore the city during the day, ambling back up the hill to the buzzy St Luke’s neighbourhood for drinks and dinner by night.
