Um, if this is you on CCTV taking art from a Cork pub, they’d like it back

By Yay Cork September 22, 2026September 22, 2026

UPDATE: The art has now been returned “with a very embarrassed apology”

“Thanks to everyone who shared and commented to help get this returned

We got our piece back this evening with a very embarrassed apology. We’ll take down the post now.”

– The Liberty

A Cork pub has issued an appeal to two customers after a piece of artwork reportedly went missing from its walls on Culture Night.

The Liberty on South Main Street shared CCTV stills on social media showing two people who, according to the pub, were seen admiring the artwork during their visit on Thursday, September 18th.

The pub is now asking the pair to get in touch and return the piece if they have it.

“Hi everyone. We are kindly asking the people in these CCTV stills to return the piece they stole from our premises on Culture Night,” the Liberty team posted on Instagram.

The pub said it has given the pair until Friday to return the artwork before taking the matter further.

“If we do not get the piece back by Friday, we will be going to An Garda,” the post continued, adding: “We do have your name.”

The pub is appealing to anyone who recognises the people pictured to get in touch, adding a rather Cork-style incentive: “There’s a drink in it for you.”

For now, the pub’s message is simple: if you know where the artwork is, it’s time to do the right thing and get it back to where it belongs.
