Travel warning for Cork following overnight snow and freezing temperatures

A yellow snow and ice alert is in place for Cork.
And with snowfall and freezing temperatures creating hazardous conditions overnight, motorists and pedestrians have been warned to be extra careful out there this morning.
Cork City Council Director of Operations, David Joyce advised motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians to allow plenty of time for their journeys and “to expect the unexpected” today.
Roads and footpaths may be slippery leading to possible travel disruption and delays.

“There will be snow on the ground during commuting times on Thursday morning, especially outside the city, on higher ground and north of the city,” he said.
“We are asking people to expect the unexpected and to travel with due care and attention,”
Widespread rain, sleet & snow on Thursday leading to hazardous road conditions & some travel disruption.
Lying snow & ice will linger on Friday, but it looks set to be mostly dry with some sunny spells.

Met Eireann is predicting sleet during the day today, Thursday, and freezing temperatures on Thursday night.
