Considering quitting your job?
Better get that CV to your dream employer fast; February 4th is the most popular day of the year to begin job hunting.
Whether you’re just reacting to a touch of New Year inertia or the Christmas break allowed you to fully re-evaluate your career goals and make a new plan, if you’re looking for a new role this week you’re not alone.
According to stats released by Jobs.ie, site traffic on February 4th is a whopping 66% higher than the yearly average and employers can expect a major peak in jobseeker activity – particularly during lunchtime when the majority of applications are submitted.
“Late January to early February is always one of the busiest times of year for recruitment.” says Christopher Paye, General Manager at Jobs.ie.
“As people begin to put their New Year’s resolutions into action, career goals are often to the fore. For some people, this may mean looking to progress within their current organisation and for others it represents a key time to start considering a completely new role.”
Just over half (53%) of job applications are sent in the first three days of the week s if you’re an employer, you might want to be extra friendly to your employees from Mondays to Wednesdays in February.
The next annual job hunting surge happens in September as people return to work after the summer holidays.
