This sweet tribute to Cork’s ‘Lady of the Lough’ just appeared beside the water

We love to see a local hero celebrated.
And now visitors to The Lough will be reminded of the tireless work of the late Brenda King, who was known in the area as the ‘Lady of the Lough’.
Cork City Council has erected a special illustration of King, who was often seen at the popular walking spot feeding the birds.
Fittingly, the drawing, featuring Brenda in her familiar coat and boots with her hand outstretched to a grateful goose, is located at the bird feeder.
We were delighted to arrange a Signmaker to facilitate this tribute to Brenda King ‘Lady of the Lough ‘by local Sarah Murphy whose painting brilliantly captures the image we all had of Brenda feeding her beloved birds at the #lough every day! Lovely memory on the Bird Feeder! pic.twitter.com/FzsNg8mdcl

Lovely memory on the bird feeder!” a City Council spokesperson tweeted.
Brenda, who lived nearby and enjoyed chatting with walkers at The Lough, passed away in December 2022 and is survived by her sister, Margaret as well as many friends and relatives.
