This slick new café just opened on Penrose Dock (and the outdoor terrace is heaven)

There’s a lot to explore on Penrose Dock.
And what better excuse for a ramble around Cork’s newest city neighbourhood than a bite to eat at the brand new Naturally Nourished café, which opened its doors on Railway Street this week.
The stylish 2,500 sq ft eatery is now open for breakfast, brunch and lunch from 7.30am to 4pm, offering “a balanced menu of seasonally inspired hot and cold dishes, using lots of fresh fruit and veg, warming spices, healing herbs, healthy proteins, fueling complex carbohydrates and nourishing fats.”
Sounds ideal.
Nab a table near the 75-year-old olive tree and treat yourself to a breakfast of organic beans, poached free-range egg, house organic spelt flatbread, z’atar and a cup of Soma coffee.

Dishes are dressed with herbs from Cork Rooftop Farm and heirloom tomatoes from Green Towers, Ireland’s first vertical aeroponic tower garden farm.
And if it’s al fresco dining you’re after, you’re in the right place; the large south-facing outdoor seating area overlooks the entrance to the plaza in Penrose Dock, making it the perfect spot to kick back with a coffee and take in the new surroundings.
Owner Yvonne Whitley, who also runs a Naturally Nourished café in City Gate in Mahon, is planning to hire up to seven new employees at the Penrose Dock restaurant.
With the new Dean Hotel expected to open before Christmas, the development forms a key part of the evolution of Cork’s Docklands into a thriving new economic district centred around the train and bus stations.
