It’s hard to resist those puppy-dog eyes.
But now you can treat your canine companion to a cool treat while you dig into your 99 at Sundays Ice Cream & Coffee Bar in Kinsale.
The retro Pearse Street ice cream bar noticed that certain hairier members of the family were feeling left out during those warm-weather trips for ice cream in the seaside town.
The solution? Miniature vanilla Doggie Cones, complete with a dog-safe chocolate drop on top.
Is ice cream safe for pets?
Provided your dog does not have a lactose intolerance or any other health issues, the guidance from vets is that the odd sweet treat is acceptable, provided you limit sugar the majority of the time.
It is worth remembering that chocolate is toxic to dogs so the chocolate drop added to this dog-friendly option is a special substitute – never let them share your dessert if it’s the real deal and always have plenty of fresh cold water available.
The miniature summer treat is available to customers for a bargain 30c when you are ordering your own ice cream sundaes, sorbets and cones from the counter at Sunday’s in Kinsale.
