With more than 30 million albums sold during his short life, guitar legend Rory Gallagher has a place in rock and roll history worldwide, but now a local artist has paid tribute to the Hometown singer in the most ‘Cork’ way possible.
Artist John Flynn hand painted an image of Rory Gallagher onto a hurley as part of a private commission for a music-mad client.
The image of the star, open mouthed and mid-song, is artfully designed in blue, black and white paint.
The Macroom graduate of the Crawford College of Art and Design calls the piece ‘Bullfrog Blues‘ – a tribute to one of the musician’s most famous songs.
It’s not the first time John Flynn has turned the humble hurley into a piece of covetable art.
His stunning custom designs are regularly shipped all over the world as unique gifts for special occasions such as birthdays and weddings.
