Trying to make the most of your balcony or yard?
Even if you barely have room for the wheelie bin, chances are you can still find a way to bring some life to your precious outdoor space… and one Irish expert is getting ready to share all her secrets.
Hazel Proctor, an award-winning garden designer, has worked in some of the most beautiful gardens in Ireland including the National Botanic Gardens, the War Memorial Gardens, Luttrellstown Castle and Lodge Park Walled Garden.
These days, you can find her teaching gardening courses at the TCD Botanic Garden or giving gardening lectures in the Botany Department, but on Saturday, July 18th she’ll be opening up her classroom to wannabe gardeners all over the country, with an online course called ‘Gardening in Small Spaces.

Running from 11am until 12pm, the morning session is open to everybody and tickets (€21.95) are available now here.
Participants will learn how to grow everything from herbs and salads to fruit trees and roses, all using containers, window boxes, small beds and courtyards and sunny sills.
It’s a chance to get some real skills you can put into practice at home over the summer months (and start next spring with a bit of know-how in your back pocket).
