This might be the coolest Cork mural yet

It completely transforms the area.
The ESB Substation on Cork’s Caroline Street is the canvas for an enormous new piece by local artist Shane O’Driscoll.
Launched last night at a party thrown by Brown Thomas, with cocktails by Banana Melon Kitchen, the large-scale mural turns what was a dull Art Deco building into a fabulous new must-see stop on the tourist trail.

Built in 1931, the ESB Substation facade had been a weak yellow for as long as any of us can remember.
Now, thanks to Cork City Council and Brown Thomas, it’s a festival of bold pink, black and orange, O’Driscoll’s signature colour palette.
“There is a great revival in Cork at the moment and pride in the people to make it the best city we can.” says Shane.
“Creativity is a huge part of our culture and can be used to showcase what we have here.”

More of Shane’s pieces are currently displayed in Table Restaurant on Level 2 in BT.
