Listen up, expats.
There’s no shortage of Irish pubs in New Jersey (after all, 1.27 million New Jersey residents identify as Irish-American) but one little bar is flying the flag exclusively for Cork.
The Cork City in Hoboken is a craft beer hub that actively encourages punters to bring their dog along for a pint.
There’s always a steady stream of new customers alongside the dog-less regulars who drop by to dish out belly rubs at the neighbourhood pub on the corner of 3rd and Bloomfield (you can see some of their recent visitors on Facebook here).
But what, exactly, is the Cork connection?
Owner Dan DeKemper revealed the inspiration for the name: “My mother is originally from Cork – spending her early years living on Roman Street before coming to the US.”
“And yes, we do serve Murphy’s – along with 53 more beers on tap and six beers on cask.”
Good to know if you’re in the neighbourhood.
