This Day at the Races looks like the dream summer afternoon

Brought to you by Marymount University Hospital and Hospice.
Dig out your fanciest hat.
One of the most fashion-forward events of the season is happening at Mallow Racecourse this month… and it’s all for an excellent cause.
Marymount is hosting A Day at the Races on Saturday, August 17th, 2019, with an entire afternoon of glam happenings planned.
As well as seven top class horse races, the event offers a flurry of opportunities for Cork’s most sartorially savvy ladies and gents to dress to the nines and show off their best looks.
Fashion guru Brendan Courtney, Louis Copeland and Annmarie O’Connor will be on hand to judge everyone’s efforts, with incredible prizes (we’re talking holidays, bespoke suits and shopping sprees) on offer for the best dressed lady, best dressed gent and the best dressed couple.
Revellers can enjoy Taittinger Champagne Afternoon Tea in the late summer sunshine (€55, limited availability directly from the Marymount fundraising office at 021 4501 201).
The first 50 Afternoon Tea bookings will also receive free transport to and from the City Centre to Cork Racecourse), with exclusive corporate lunch options open for reservation on the viewing balcony too.
DJ Stevie G will be on the decks, with music from Violini, Chris Kavanagh and Handipak and under-14s go free, so bring the kids to enjoy the children’s entertainment.
The icing on the cake? All proceeds from admission, race sponsorship and race card advertising on the day will be donated to the Marymount University Hospital & Hospice, Ireland’s oldest and busiest hospice.
Marymount, which marks 150 years of serving the people of Cork in 2020, is only partially funded (58%) by the the state, leaving the hospice to raise €3.5 million a year just to maintain current service levels. It provides a range of services, care and support to patients with progressive illness at a time when pain or other symptom issues need addressing.
Doors open at noon, with the first race set for 1:25pm on August 17th and the last race going to post at 4:55pm. Tickets (€20) are available to book now at Corkracecourse.ie.
The Combo Ticket (€30) includes a return train ticket and general admission ticket. Corporate (€100 per person / €1000 a table) tickets are available directly from the Marymount fundraising office at 021 4501 201.
