This curious Cork shop sells ‘love spell’ candles (and a cure for a broken heart)

Hey; it can’t hurt.
If you’re facing into Valentine’s Day solo and you’d rather be sharing a candlelit dessert for two on February 14th, it might be time to try an alternative route to attracting your soulmate.
As luck would have it, a Cork city curiosity shop has put together a selection of time-honoured spells and stones, doohickeys and doodads to help you ditch your relationship issues and bewitch your beloved into asking you out.
Bauhaus in the Cornmarket Centre (just off Paul Street) has created an intriguing Valentine’s Day display of mysterious items that are traditionally associated with finding love and attracting the right partner.
Among the unconventional collection is a little pot of labradorite pieces; it’s a stone that is associated with lifting the spirits and helping you to let go of the past.
Also recommended for a broken heart is rhodonite, which is said to support the heart chakra and heal emotional shock.
According to the Bauhaus crystal experts, rose quartz could be what you need if you’re having no luck on Tinder: “A piece of rose quartz under your pillow will attract new love. Wear a piece to keep your heart open.” reads a small sign in the store.
If you have a partner in mind already, a Love Spell Candle (50c) could be what you need to seal the deal – simply light it and leave the rest to Aphrodite.
Pop an opal in your pocket to attract love, passion and desire into your life. According to the mystics, opal also intensifies openness and aids communication – ideal if you’re hoping to take things to the next level with a new love interest.
Amethyst is the stone of St Valentine (according to legend, he always wore it) so if you’re looking for romance, it can’t hurt to pop one of those in your shopping basket too.
