Ever felt uneasy while walking or jogging?
Anyone can get a little spooked now and then, but what would you do if you really were in danger?
One Cork company has set out to set our minds at ease by inventing a piece of wearable tech that could potentially save your life.
The Run Angel is the smallest, loudest personal safety wrist wearable on the market.
Activated with one touch, it emits a very loud high-pitch 120dB alarm designed to alert passers-by and deter an attacker.
It also pairs with smartphone devices over Bluetooth to send out emergency SMS alerts to contacts chosen by you, as well as an email showing co-ordinates and map-links to your location.
Invented by husband and wife team, David and Ellen Caren, from Rochestown, Run Angel is suitable for runners, joggers, students, cyclists, overseas travellers and lone workers.
At €90, available here, it’s the kind of purchase you hope you’ll never need to use, but boy would you be grateful for it in a pinch.
If nothing else, it could help you get back to concentrating on your PB during your morning jog.
