This café’s Bananas Foster Latte is the coffee upgrade you’ve been waiting for

Dull days call for good coffee and lots of it.
And if you happen to be at a loose end in Kinsale this week, waiting for the sun to shine long enough to hit the Dock beach, at least there’s no shortage of top-notch caffeinated beverages to try as you mosy around town.
At The Collector café and concept store on 3 Market Lane, they’ve just unveiled a new menu of very-good-indeed drinks, the star of which is the Bananas Foster Latte.
Husband and wife team, Floridians Shannon and Michael Healey, have named their latest drink after the classic New Orleans dessert involving flambéed bananas.
The Bananas Foster Latte is a decadent drink made with fresh, caramelised bananas, hints of cinnamon, and brown sugar.
“It’s not too sweet, just right, and utterly delicious. This is a really special one.” Shannon told us.
Fresh standouts from the new menu include the Vietnamese Coffee, made using intense and nutty Vietnamese coffee beans and served with sweetened condensed milk, hot or chilled.
The Little Havana is The Collector’s take on a Cuban coffee: “Sort of an inside-out style espresso drink, where part of the espresso shot is quickly frothed with sugar then used to top the cup at the end for this really deep and sweet hit of coffee at first sip.”
Specialty alfajores from Cork’s own Lavanda Fresca, a twist on the traditional dulce de leche-filled cookies, are the perfect accompaniment.
Then there’s the Nitro Cold Brew Coffee, which pours like Guinness, and the Orange Dream: “You can’t go wrong with the orange and ‘cream’ combo.” says Shannon.
“This is a light, bright, happy drink that reminds us of growing up in the sun with our toes in the sand.”
Sounds like the ideal way to wait out the weather.
