This beloved Cork pub was named in Lonely Planet’s Top 20 in Ireland

Some Irish pubs are just pubs.
Other Irish pubs are more like a community centre, a home away from home, or sometimes even the entire purpose of a trip.
Latest to be taken in by the ambiance and charm of Ireland’s traditional pubs is Lonely Planet, which named DeBarras Folk Club (the only Cork pub) in their list of ’20 of the Best Pubs in Ireland for Pints, Music, and the Time of Your Life”.

The travel giant warmly compared the West Cork pub to “a musical history museum” and encouraged readers to check out the picturesque town of Clonakilty whilst on their travels.
This is not the first time a Cork venue has been named in a large, multinational travel publication. Last year Nano Nagle Place and Ardú Street Art Project were listed in US Travel Weekly’s Things to Look forward to in Europe in 2022.
Such international recognition of our expansive cultural life is wonderful for local communities and economies that have put many years and effort into building these important community spaces.
if you’re planning a visit yourself, you can check out their website for upcoming gigs.
