This Bandon Road bar has a new look (and it’s inspired by some spooky local history)

Add this to your Halloween pub crawl.
A popular city bar is getting a fitting makeover with new branding inspired by the neighbourhood’s spooky past.
Laurynas Damijonaitis of Dami Designs is working on striking new signage for The Gallows on Bandon Road, with illustrations based on the image of a raven.
“Ravens are associated with death and obviously with our pub name The Gallows, it fitted in nicely with that.” co-owner Dave Cremin told Yay Cork.
Dave, a well-known city photographer, runs The Gallows with his father, Noel. The bar has been in their family since the Eighties.
“The Gallows name was also derived from local history; Gallows Green was just up the hill from the bar and that’s what inspired my father to change the name from The Regional Inn to The Gallows Bar.”

New signage, complete with hand-painted, 23kt gold leaf gilded detail, has already been fitted internally and the work at the front of the premises will be completed in the coming weeks.
“It’s very exciting times for the bar and it’ll be great to have the name over the door again.” added Dave.
“I must thank my brother-in-law Paulo for the original design with the raven,”
“Laurynas then took it to the next level when I approached him about rebranding last year. He came up with the logo and also a few other bits that will be completed soon.”
