These plush poolside lodges are ideal for a fun family getaway in West Cork

Brought to you by Ballylickey House, Garden Lodges & Poolhouse.
It’s time to make some post-pandemic memories.
And if you’re on the lookout for a stunning location for a family reunion, West Cork is calling with a luxury hideaway that will impress all the gang, from the kids to the great-grandparents.
Built some 300 years ago by Lord Kenmare as a shooting lodge, Ballylickey House has been reinvented in recent years, quickly becoming a favourite among guests seeking a tranquil base from which to enjoy everything the Wild Atlantic Way has to offer.
Nestled into the lush landscaped grounds surrounding the house, a selection of gorgeous lodges enjoy pool views and sleep between two and four guests each.
Inside, the decor is plush and comfortable, with large en-suite bathrooms, HD LED flat-screen televisions with international channels, free wi-fi, tea and coffee making facilities, USB points and hairdryers.
The Poolhouse is a gathering place where you can meet for coffee and make a plan for the day or toast a special event with a bottle of bubbly while relaxing on the leather sofas.
Fun for all the family
There is so much to do locally that you’ll be spoiled for choice. Bantry Bay Championship Golf Course and Glengarriff Golf Course are nearby, along with gorgeous Glengarriff village and Garnish Island.
History buffs will love a ramble around Bantry House, while adventure fans can enjoy whale watching, surfing and kayaking at various locations in the area.
There’s even plenty to explore on the property, including the main event: a full-size heated outdoor pool that the entire family will enjoy throughout your stay.
Planted some 80 years ago by the owners’ grandmother and mother, the gardens at Ballylickey House are truly spectacular. You can stroll the wild water garden, scented rose garden, and riverwalk and enjoy sweeping views of Bantry Bay from the long lawns surrounded by old mature trees and shrubs.
Foodies can even arrange the ultimate holiday treat; book ahead and have dinner cooked for you by Michelin Bib-Gourmand awarded head chef Richard Milnes in the Phoenix Lounge & Restaurant.
