These 5 restaurants are all reopening and we’re beyond excited about it

By Yay Cork January 20, 2022January 20, 2022

Can you feel it?

There’s a frisson of positivity in the air. You might not recognise it, but that’s what it is.

With Covid case numbers finally waning and restrictions set to be eased as early as next week, things are looking up for Cork’s embattled pubs and restaurants.

And if your social engagements were few and far between over Christmas, now is the time to make up for it; many of Cork’s best eateries and bars are reopening this week for the first time in 2022.

I mean, it’s practically your civic duty to support.

Here are five of the best returning this week:

1. JACOBS ON THE MALL

With a gorgeous new dining room (one of the most spacious in the city) and a menu to match, the Jacobs crew reopened on Wednesday after two weeks in darkness.

Call 021 4251 530 to book a table.

2. JACQUES

They’ve been delighting Cork diners for more than four decades, so Jacques has been sorely missed by regulars over the past three weeks. The good news is they are reopening today, Thursday, January 20th and serving until Saturday this week.

To make a reservation see jacquesrestaurant.ie or call 021 4277 387

3. SONNY’S DELI

Over on Albert Road, this popular little brekkie and lunch hatch reopened on Tuesday, serving the usual selection of comforting fare to make your midweek more bearable.

Swing by for coffee and baked goods too from 8am or click and collect here.

4. ELECTRIC

In the mood for a fancy cocktail and a delish dinner à deux? Take a date to Electric on the South Mall, where they’re firing up the ovens and grills this week with a lush Asian-inspired menu and tables available from Wednesday to Saturday, 12.20pm to 8pm.

Call 021 422 2990 or book online here.

5. 51 CORNMARKET

The creative crew at this lovely eatery are “beyond buzzing to be back brunchin’ this week” and looking forward to their first spring on the Coal Quay.

“Expect it all…Cork food at its sexiest, using some stellar local goodies and constantly keeping you guys on your toes.”

Can’t argue with that, can you?

Open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am, bookings on 083 010 2321
