There’s plenty to tempt the cine-curious in Cork Cine Club’s new line-up

By Yay Cork January 12, 2026

Want to get out more this winter?

If your idea of a good Thursday night involves subtitles, strong opinions and a post-film chat that goes on longer than planned, Cork Cine Club has you covered.

The beloved non-profit returns for its 29th season from January 22nd to April 16th, 2026, serving up ten carefully chosen films from across Ireland, Europe, the Middle East and beyond — all screened at 7.30pm in Cork College of FET, Douglas Street Campus.

The season kicks off with a homegrown treat: Horseshoe, a darkly funny Irish comedy-drama set in the west, where four estranged siblings reunite to settle their father’s estate — only for his ghost to complicate matters. Director Adam O’Keefe will be there on opening night to introduce the film and take questions, which feels very on-brand for a club that likes its cinema personal and its directors present.

Elsewhere, there’s plenty to tempt the cine-curious: Young Mothers, the latest from Belgian heavyweights the Dardenne Brothers; a rare chance to see the 1994 French classic The Heart in Winter on the big screen; and the unexpectedly joyful Holy Cow, about a French teen chasing cheese glory and a €30,000 prize.

Palestine 36

More serious notes are struck with Palestine 36, charting the 1936 revolt against British colonial rule, while the season closes on a high with It Was Just an Accident, the latest from Iranian director Jafar Panahi, fresh from winning the top prize at Cannes in 2025.

Run entirely by volunteers and proudly non-profit, Cork Cine Club has been quietly enriching the city’s film culture since 2010, bringing more than 250 independent international films to local audiences. Tickets are €8.50 (€7 concession), available online via Powertik or on the door, and full details, trailers and schedules are up at corkcineclub.com.

A heads-up for planners: there are no screenings on February.19th, April 2nd or April 9th due to college holidays. Otherwise, Thursdays are officially spoken for.
