There’s a major change to the Christmas attractions in Cork city centre this year

Corkmas is coming.
And along with the catchy new official name for Cork city centre’s festive celebrations, they’ll also be happening in a whole new location.
With Bishop Lucey Park undergoing construction as part of a multi-million Euro refurbishment, for 2023, all eyes will be on Emmet Place, where Solas, a magical new lighting experience, will enthrall visitors throughout November and December.
The city centre’s traditional Christmas lights and Christmas trees will be turned on next week as part of ‘Corkmas’, with the all-new immersive light experience in the public plaza opening to the public from Saturday, November 18th, heralding the beginning of the busy Christmas shopping period.
Details of pop-up events and opportunities to interact with the light show will be revealed at a later date but advance booking is not required to experience Solas.
The much-loved 30-metre Ferris wheel is also returning to Grand Parade, with more details set to be announced soon.
