There’s a €1 tree giveaway happening at a Cork city garden on Valentine’s Day
No date this Valentine’s Day?
Never mind. With the grand stretch in the evening and slightly milder temperatures of late, it’s a fine time to focus all your attention on your garden instead.
You can pick up some beautiful native trees for free this Saturday, February 14th at Togher Community Garden on Clashduv Road.
A Free Tree Giveaway will run from 11am to 1pm, with oak, rowan, holly, hawthorn, hazel, birch, and alder trees available on the day. Members of the public can swing by and collect bare root whips ranging in height.

Organised by local voluntary group Trees Please, it’s first come, first served so if you’re looking for a specific species then do get there early. Stick around after for tea, coffee and some fun tree planting demos.
The €1 donation per tree is cash only so you might want to hit the ATM on the way too.
