The Spa at The Kingsley has had a makeover – here’s what’s new for summer ’22

We all leaned into the DIY facial during the lockdown.
Needs must, as they say. And to be fair, apart from the odd dodgy eyebrow wax, we didn’t do a bad job at playing beauty therapist when there were no other options available.
However, now that normality has returned at last, there are few things we enjoy more than disappearing into the depths of one of Cork’s tranquil spas and leaving our skin in the capable hands of an expert for a few blissful hours.
If you’re planning your next self-care day or getaway, The Spa at The Kingsley has had a little makeover of its own.
Oooh… what’s new?
From herringbone flooring to fresh finishes on the walls and a new garden swing in the Thermal Suite (ideal for the must-have spa gown selfies), it’s now even more tranquil and soothing – the ideal escape for city slickers seeking a spot of ‘me time’.
All nine treatment rooms have been refurbished and you can stop by the Spa Boutique to stock up on products from Neom Organics, Kerstin Florian, Natural Spa Factory and the Handmade Soap Company if you fancy bringing a little luxury home with you.
Our advice is to check in an hour prior to your treatment to get the most out of the Thermal Suite. All guests booking spa treatments over the value of €65 per person can enjoy the chromotherapy room, heated mosaic loungers, tropical rainforest showers, ice shower, spa pool, and a range of heat and steam rooms – just the thing to prep you for your massage or facial.

A favourite among regulars, Kerstin Florian’s luxurious, result-orientated Berryplus Antioxidant Infusion Facial (65 minutes, €115) is designed to tackle the signs of premature aging and if you’re short on time, it’s the fastest route to looking like you’ve had 12 hours sleep.
Your therapist will slather your tired face with concentrated, nourishing oils, serums, and plant essences, working it all in with acupressure and muscle-easing face and neck massage followed by a nourishing algae-rich masque for increased cellular renewal.
Afterwards you can take home the ampoule used in the treatment, which will provide you with up to seven days of at-home treatment.
Make a night of it
The Kingsley is the ideal spot for a sneaky staycation too – book dinner in The Springboard restaurant for a scenic meal of locally-caught seafood and melt-in-your-mouth lamb shank, then hit Fisher’s Bar for drinks in the snug and live music.
Nab a plush room with gorgeous views of the River Lee and you’ll fall asleep to the gentle whoosh of the water cascading down the weir.
The next morning, after a decadent brekkie of cinnamon French toast and a stroll through the Lee Fields, you can take one of the hotel’s chic bicycles, complete with a handy wicker basket, helmet, and bike lock, and explore the local sights.
Later you can retreat to the outdoor hydro pool and soak up some sunshine while your muscles are massaged by the rolling water jets. You’ll be walking on air all the way to the car park on check out.
