The Old Head of Kinsale Lighthouse is opening up for a rare public visit

It’s closed to the public for most of the year.
But this August, the iconic Old Head of Kinsale Lighthouse opens its doors for a rare public visit, offering an opportunity to climb to the top and witness breathtaking panoramic views of the West Cork coastline.
Standing proudly at the tip of the Old Head peninsula, the lighthouse has been a guardian of the treacherous waters for over 200 years. This special Open Weekend offers a unique chance to delve into its rich history on Saturday, August 31st and Sunday, September 1st, 2024.

As you climb the stairs, you can imagine the countless sailors guided by its powerful beacon for generations. The real treasure awaits at the top; unparalleled panoramic vistas stretching across the Wild Atlantic Way.
This open weekend is an essential fundraiser for the Lusitania Museum & Old Head Signal Tower. Your ticket not only grants access to the lighthouse but also supports the preservation of local heritage.
Plan Your Visit
No pre-booking is required. Just head to the Old Head Signal Tower on the day and purchase your tickets (€15 per adult, €40 for a family). Be prepared for high interest – arriving early is highly recommended.
