The Metropole now serves small plates and tasty spritzes in its revamped lobby

Cork’s Victorian Quarter has a new excuse for a post-work detour.
The Metropole Hotel has launched a new Small Plates and Spritz menu, now being served in the hotel’s recently renovated lobby space. The new offering is pitched as an easy evening option: seasonal local produce, shareable dishes and spritzes from 6pm to 9pm daily.
“The lounge area of the Metropole Hotel underwent a major transformation and is now offering a vibrant social space in the heart of the Victorian Quarter,” said Executive Head Chef Eoghan O’Flynn.
“Our Small Plates and Spritz menu is the perfect offering for anyone looking for a relaxed evening with the best of local food or for a pre-theatre cocktails and bites if they’re going to a show in the Everyman Theatre.”
What’s on the menu?
The small plates line-up mixes comfort food and seafood with a few brighter, summery desserts.
Artisan bites include chipotle BBQ pork belly, Glenmar seafood croquette, and Asian style chicken wings. For something sweet, try the Met’s signature summer trifle, passion fruit and bergamot custard tart, and lemon and elderflower creme brulée.
Customers can opt for two small plates and two spritzes, or a charcuterie and cheese board with a bottle of house wine. Both options are priced at €50.
A live pianist will perform every Friday and Saturday evening, while a DJ will entertain diners on the first Saturday of every month with a set of modern jazz-inspired lounge and eclectic house vibes.
