The Grim Reaper will ride a white horse across a Cork beach on Halloween night

East Cork is *the* place to be on Halloween night.
The seaside town of Youghal has a whopper schedule of incredibly atmospheric events planned across Wednesday, October 30th and Thursday, October 31st, culminating in the Grim Reaper Procession at the Mall Beach after dark on Halloween night.
Riding a white horse ‘Luna’, the angel of death will venture through the town from 8pm, leading the crowds to the shoreline, where the Witches of Youghal will be holding their Samhain celebrations from 7pm and An Bhean Uisce will emerge from the sea.
“Witches celebrate Samhain night as it marks the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter, representing the transition between life and death.” say the organisers.

“It’s considered a time when the veil between the physical world and the spirit world is at its thinnest, allowing them to honour ancestors, connect with spirits, and perform divination. Samhain also serves as a witch’s New Year, a time for reflection, transformation, and setting intentions for the coming cycle.
“It’s a deeply spiritual and mystical night for celebrating the cycles of nature and the mysteries of life and death.”
The events are all part of Spirit of Samahin, which features a range of daytime children’s events such as a Witching School of Arts and crafts and nighttime fun including Tale by Candlelight at the Tourist Office and a Trick of Treat party at Cromwell’s Arch, the access point to the harbour and the sea during Medieval times.
