This sounds like the perfect lockdown Saturday morning.
The Glucksman is hosting an online Saturday Masterclass with artist Peter Nash and they’ll even post you all the necessary materials to take part.
Creative folk just need to clear a little space on the kitchen table on Saturday, November 14th from 11am to 1pm, make a pot of coffee and get stuck in.
The class will focus on how drawing can be used to record memories and document experiences.
“You will learn and put into practice a range of techniques under the guidance of the artist, with an emphasis on the relationship between close looking and drawing.” a spokesperson told Yay Cork.
“Try your hand at pen, charcoal, graphite and ink and develop the skills to create your own visual diary.”
Peter Nash’s practice is informed by ongoing research into pre-internet sources of knowledge and methods of communication and includes drawing, printmaking, animation and sculptural assemblage. His work ‘I never forget a face’, 2020 is part of the Glucksman exhibition UCC Art Collection: Selected Works.
Places are limited (the cost is €25/€35, sign up here) and booking is essential – participants must be signed up by November 7th, 2020 in order to receive their creative materials kit. Instructions on the log-in will be emailed to participants.
