The Friary is hosting a Curiosity Shop this weekend (and there’s going to be Bloody Marys)

We love a boozy shopping spree.
If you’re staying in the city this weekend and looking for something out of the ordinary, The Friary might have just the thing for you.
This Sunday, August 27th the Shandon Street pub is hosting a pop-up Curiosity Shop, promising an eclectic mix of art and goodies on sale throughout the evening.
Attendees can rock up, order a Bloody Mary from the bar and browse the stalls for baked goods, pre-loved clothes, arts, crafts, and artisan jewellery.
A Curiosity Shop is usually a shop selling unusual items and curios. The idea came to organisers Cara and Joanne when they were looking for a way to help a range of artists sell their art and have a good time in the process.
“It can be hard for artists to get themselves out there, and people are always looking to support local artists – so this market will facilitate a space where people can come, have a few drinks, eat tasty treats while seeing some of Cork creatives work and if anyone buys anything, all the money will go to the artist,” said Cara.

Among the artists present will be Ailish Creedon who will be displaying her essential oils and fragrances, work by Joanne Hackett and Senan O’Connor, photography by Katie O Brien, zines from Good Day Deli, ceramics from Gaia Vitali as well as some books, pre-loved clothes, a bake sale and of course Bloody Marys from the bar.
The pop-up Curiosity Shop will take place in The Friary on Sunday, August 27th from 4pm-9pm.
