The Darkness (yes, The Darkness) announce Cyprus Avenue gig

Well that was unexpected.
The Darkness, the 2000s rock band behind the iconic song I Believe In A Thing Called Love have announced a gig at Cork’s Cyprus Avenue.
The Justin Hawkins-fronted outfit, which took their cues from the hair-rock bands of the seventies and eighties, weren’t exactly one-hit wonders, also charting with songs like Love Is Only A Feeling, Growing On Me, and of course, Christmas hit Christmas Time (Don’t Let The Bells End).
The gig is set to take place on February 26th, so it remains to be seen whether or not they play the Christmas song. The band is releasing a new album, Motorheart, next month.
In a statement, the band said: “The time has come, the walrus said… to put your fookin’ pants on your head and rock like Satan is eating your private parts with a pointy fork! Yes, we, The Darkness, are the fuck back on tour, praise Satan’s better half… come and party with us like it’s the last orders at the last chance saloon.” Which is pretty much how we expected them to communicate.
Tickets, which will set you back €33.27, will go on sale on Monday, October 11th, available through Eventbrite.
