The city workshop where anyone can try woodwork

Do you long to work with your hands but don’t know where to start?
As more and more people find themselves drawn towards old timey traditional crafts (sawdust is good for the soul, you know), a unique Cork City workshop is opening its doors to anyone who wants to learn woodwork.
Benchspace is a shared access workshop that provides affordable access to workbenches and professional standard machinery to local learners, furniture makers, designers, and particularly to graduates and early career professionals.
The workshop runs various Friday and Saturday sessions in the former Ford factory in the Marina Commercial Park with no experience necessary.
The skills learned during the short introductory class can be applied to almost any future woodwork project and you can make your very own piece to take home in a single class.
There’s even a therapeutic benefit; woodworking is good for your mental health.
Not only is time spent in the workshop a chance to duck out of the daily grind for a few hours, it’s also an opportunity to be creative and learn a new skill.
Plus, if you find you want to turn your new passion into a business, Benchspace have got your back there too; sharing the cost of equipment, rent and commercial rates significantly cuts the cost of starting a new fine furniture or woodworking business in Cork.
Classes are open for booking here.
