The Big Sing is happening online this year with a free a cappella workshop

Do you belt out a bit of Cher in the shower?
Do you sing along to the hits in the car and give it socks at the karaoke bar on holiday?
Whether you like to share your voice loudly and proudly with anyone who’ll listen or you’re a secret singer who only performs behind closed doors, Cork International Choral Festival is inviting you to join in one of their most popular annual events online this year.
Singers (or wannabe singers) of all ages and abilities are invited to learn the tricks of the trade of contemporary a cappella in Brave! Big Sing A Capella, a free virtual workshop happening on Saturday, May 1st, 2021 at 1pm.
Artistic Director of Ardú, Ciarán Kelly will be teaching the class about body percussion, vocal percussion, vocal band emulation and more as everyone works on his arrangement of Brave by Sara Bareilles.
“The session will consist of a cappella specific warm-ups, vocal health advice, some harmony-building exercises for singers singing from home, and an insight into the rhythmic nuances of creating an a cappella arrangement. You will learn the exclusive arrangement of Brave and sing along (virtually) with Ardú!” says Ciarán.
Cork International Choral Festival opens tonight, Wednesday, April 28th and runs online until Sunday, May 2nd. You can check out the full programme here and register for your free place on Brave! Big Sing A Cappella on Zoom.
