The big outdoor Book Market returns to Cork’s Grand Parade in April

Bring a big bag for your finds.
The Book Market will be back on Grand Parade on Saturday, April 26th, organised by Goldiefish Events.
The annual event, which runs from 10am to 4pm with free entry, is part of Cork World Book Fest, which began in 2005 as a one-day festival and, now in its 21st year, has expanded to a six-day extravaganza that offers 40 events with over 100 writers in multiple venues across the city.
The festival runs from Tuesday, April 22nd to Sunday, April 27th with an opening night in Cork City Library featuring Christine Dwyer Hickey, Catriona Shine and Kevin Curran, chatting about Who We Are, At Home and Abroad, in conversation with Mary Morrissy.
“Every April, we look forward to bringing Irish and international writers to Cork.” said Patricia Looney, Senior Executive Librarian in Cork City Libraries.

Liam Ronayne and Mary Aherne
“We’re delighted to facilitate events free of charge or at a nominal fee, ensuring they are accessible to everyone. There will be discussions on how writers can increase their chances of submitting a successful manuscript as well as several events featuring work in translation, including a discussion moderated by Mary Noonan with award-winning author Catherine Prasifka and Laetitia Devaux who translates from English to French. Devaux is currently Translator in Residence in University College Cork.”
Events for this year’s festival will take place in the Cork City Library, Triskel Arts Centre, Cork Public Museum, the River Lee Hotel, Farmgate Café, Callanan’s Bar, Plugd Records and Café and more.
